Equine Assisted Learning

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a unique approach to personal development, body awareness and acquisition of skills to resource oneself to thrive in life.

At Equine Assisted Learning Limestone clients of all ages are supported to address learning goals (emotional, cognitive, behavioural, relationship and mental health conditions) while in relationship with the horses. The herd provides perfect modelling of strategies that communicate boundaries and a calm state ('returning to grazing').

During EAL sessions clients are facilitated in safe experiences with horses to explore scenarios that encourage engagement in strategies that promote individual development.

This may include:

  • personal development

  • self-awareness

  • body awareness

  • building of resources to support personal fulfilment in professional and personal relationships

These sessions are guided by facilitator and client consultation to identify areas of need and develop a personalised program to meet the needs of the client.

Sessions may include:

  • observation of the herd

  • liberty meeting of the herd and members

  • engaging with selected members of the herd

  • may include a led mounted experience

EAL is not riding lessons. If you are seeking riding lessons please discuss this from the outset.

At EALL we work with horses and other animals as they provide a unique example of living in the 'here & now', they model perfectly strategies to maintain a calm state ('returning to grazing') and effective communication that meets their needs without causing harm to the herd.
